Welcome to Unprompted: The AI Marketing Brief, where I cut through the noise in AI news and research to show marketers what’s happening — and why it matters for your work, your team and your career.
Is there anything better than waking up to find out your favorite tool just introduced a new feature? Maybe you saw it coming. You've been tracking the beta, reading the changelogs, refreshing the product blog like it owes you money. Or maybe it's the feature users have been begging for while the company stayed quiet for months. Either way, I can't help grinning when my feed lights up with the announcement, the hot takes and the first hands-on reviews. It's Christmas morning for marketing nerds.
And like kids on Christmas morning, we only think about what's in it for us. Will it save me time? Clean up my workflow? Finally make KPI reporting less painful? Fair questions. But they're only half the story.
Every tool that makes your job easier is making someone else's easier too, and that someone is often your buyer. So when a new release drops, don't just ask what it does for you. Ask what it does for the people you're trying to reach. Most of us skip that second question, and it's usually the one that matters more.
This edition covers both sides: two tools that'll save your team real hours, and two that are quietly changing how your audience finds information and decides who to trust.
AI tools that make marketers' jobs easier
Let's start with audio, because it's the part of video production nobody budgets enough time for. In a recent Berklee College of Music survey, 80% of video creators, musicians and marketers said they post video daily or several times a week. Every single respondent said they use music in those videos. That's a lot of tracks to find, license and keep straight, and for teams cranking out high-volume video, it turns into a real bottleneck.
Adobe wants to take that off your plate. Firefly's Generate Music, Generate Speech, and Generate Sound Effects tools are now available to all users, so in-house teams can create music, voiceover and sound design in one place instead of juggling a stock-audio subscription and a voiceover vendor. Adobe also added a free tier for Firefly AI Assistant with daily generations, plus a new model, Gemini Omni Flash, that accepts video, audio and image inputs alongside text.
Adobe's pitch is that it's all commercially safe. That's a big promise, and it's the one I'd want to test before betting a campaign on it. Read the terms, know what's covered, and loop in legal if your brand is cautious about this stuff. But if it holds up, it could cut a step (and a line item) out of every video you make.
Then there's Claude. If you've already converted to Cowork, I've got good news: the desktop app now has its own built-in browser. Claude can navigate sites, read pages, click and fill out forms in a side panel while you keep working. You don't need the Claude in Chrome extension, and it never touches your own tabs, bookmarks or passwords.
Think about the web tasks that eat twenty minutes of your day because there's no connector for them. Pulling numbers from a partner portal. Gathering vendor invoices. Those are exactly the jobs you can hand off now.
One honest caveat: Anthropic says the browser runs the same safeguards as Claude in Chrome, including checks that compare Claude's actions against what you actually asked for. But the company is upfront that those checks reduce prompt-injection risk rather than eliminate it. Start with low-stakes tasks and keep an eye on what it's doing.
How AI is changing the way buyers find content
Firefox is building more into Smart Window, its privacy-first AI browsing assistant. The update groups related tabs, shows visual previews to help people find pages in their history, and, most importantly, pulls in web answers through a new partnership with Exa. Smart Window can now retrieve current information and show its sources right in the browser, without sending anyone to a search results page.
Now picture your buyer using it. They ask a question, get an answer with sources attached, and never open a search engine. Some of the search and comparison behavior you track today could start happening inside the browser, where your analytics can't see it. Smart Window is still in beta and limited to English-speaking users in the U.S. and Canada, so this isn't a crisis. It's a signal of where browsers are heading.
Google, meanwhile, is handing publishers a way to push back. Its new Preferred Sources button lets you embed a button on your site that readers can click to prioritize you in Top Stories, AI Overviews, and AI Mode. According to Google, readers have already picked more than 600,000 unique sources this way.
That changes the game a little. Ranking still matters, but as more discovery happens inside AI summaries, being chosen starts to matter as much as being found. And this is one of the rare places where you can just ask your audience to pick you.
Four AI marketing moves to make this week
Try this
- Put Firefly up against your current audio workflow. Pick one upcoming video and run the voiceover through Generate Speech alongside whatever you use now, whether that's a vendor or a stock-audio subscription. If the result holds up, you may have just cut a step (and a line item).
- Pick one annoying web task to hand off to Claude. If you're on a Pro, Max or Team plan, choose a recurring task that doesn't have a connector, like pulling numbers from a dashboard or checking a vendor portal. Once the built-in browser shows up in your Cowork app, give Claude that task and see how it does.
Check this
- Audit your attribution assumptions. Look at how your keyword tracking and attribution setup assumes people search and compare options. Then add Firefox's Smart Window to the agenda for your next analytics review as something to watch, even if it's too early to act on it.
- Add Google's Preferred Source button to your site. Google's Search Central documentation walks you through it. The harder part is placement. Put it somewhere readers will actually notice, like the bottom of your articles or your newsletter signup page, not buried in a footer nobody scrolls to.
